(More customer reviews)I first posted this review right after I got my HP computer and shared my irritation about a problem with the LAN adapter.After this initial review I have grown to dislike my HP even more.The HP webcam won't install properly, PDF files from the internet won't open properly, I can't get my home printer network configured for the life of me -- could be W7 problem, I admit.All in all I'm disappointed in my HP.
I recently purchased this model and it is fine except for one really irritating thing -- whenever I boot up the LAN adapter is disabled and I don't have an internet connection.Every time I have to manually go into Control Panel and disable the adapter and then enable it to get my connection.I've actually put the shortcut on my desktop so I can do this quickly but it really bugs me that I have to do this.I've gone to the HP website for support and have downloaded and installed all the seemly relevant driver updates but, alas, this has not fixed the problem.
I decided to buy an HP based on a feeling that they built quality products.Except for the above irritation the machine seems very cool and is very fast.I did notice, however, that HP's customer support gets low marks from reviewers.I can now attest that this criticism is well deserved.For example, when you go through their troubleshooting steps it tells you to go to Control Panel "Network and Internet" -- no such option is available; you have to go to "Network and Sharing Center" and try to figure out which options they really meant.As you go through the steps and are on, say, step 2 you are told to select "reset" to reset to system defaults.When you do that you are informed that you have to close all windows and applications -- including all the steps after step 2 !!So you have to print out 3 pages of the remaining steps to complete the process -- which doesn't work anyway - and then you have to restart your computer and try to find where you were in the depths of HP's website.
I could go on and on but I will leave it at that and just register my warning to others.I don't know if any other vendor is any better though most get much more positive reviews than HP.
